Our next adventure!

So off we go onto our next adventure!!! When I met my husband, he promised that life would never be boring. LOL! Well, that was an under statement to say the least!

Shortly after moving back to Ottawa in February, my husband and I made an offer on a dilapidated home in the Alta Vista neighbourhood. I have to admit it wasn’t my first choice. I had fallen in love with another property in the same neighbourhood and had spent numerous nights awake, dreaming of renovating this 3200 SQ beauty and give it a second life that it deserved. I had almost finished sourcing all the furniture when we went in for the inspection! Sadly, it revealed a leaky foundation (and chimney) which, although not a complete deal breaker, made us revaluate our options. That’s how we ended up visiting our new purchase! Our realtor had introduced it as being an estate sale with a unique backyard that offered the “country living in the city” that we were hoping to find. We visited it on a Sunday. We loved the yard that backed onto a treed park. My husband hinted that we could build our dream home, from scratch, which was really enticing as a designer! We have renovated several homes in the past but having a blank canvass to let my creative side take over was really exciting! Plus, I believe that in order to better serve future clients, I would have to go through the whole experience of a new build myself! So, we made an offer on the Thursday – right when we were just learning about COVID 19 and its possible implications!  So only time will tell if this was the right thing to do!
